Crash Course - Life Lessons That Got Me Back on My Feet

Huron River Press is pleased to release, Crash Course - Life Lessons That Got Me Back on My Feet, by Marylen Segel Oberman, Ph.D.

Out for a stroll after their anniversary dinner in Charleston, South Carolina Marylen Oberman suddenly found herself sprawled on a sidewalk. Two vehicles had collided sending one of them careening onto the sidewalk and into Marylen, shattering her legs.

Over the following months and years she faced pain, multiple surgeries, and possibly the loss of both legs. The road to recovery was long and arduous, but Dr. Oberman's spirit and strength paved the way.

This book is for anyone facing an unexpected change in their lives, be it physical, personal, or professional. It is not just for people with life threatening illnesses or traumatic accidents; it is for everyone who can benefit from a positive approach to living. Dr. Oberman shows firsthand how to remain motivated, independent, and emotionally stable. Her work is an inspiration!

Marylen Oberman, a clinical psychologist from Ann Arbor, Michigan has worn the hats of teacher, counselor, and consultant. She graduated from the University of Michigan with B.A., M.A., and Ph.D. degrees. Her expertise is in child-parent relationships, early childhood education and the emotional problems of college students. Most recently she worked at Eastern Michigan University (EMU). She had used the technique of "journaling" with many of her own patients in both private practice and at EMU's counseling service. During the months and years following her accident she was reminded of how important it was to write and record her feelings so it was in this way, this book was born.

The soft cover book will be available November 1, 2006 and will retail for $16.95, ISBN 1-932399-X.
